The Body Knows

nnBy Rosa M.nn'There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophies.” - Friedrich Nietzschenn“Transformation is sustained change, and it is achieved through practice.” - B.K.S. IyengarnnAny one of my friends on Facebook will tell you that I am a big fan of quotations (I post them on my wall frequently!).nnThere have been a lot of super smart people in history, who have confronted the things I come up against, and succeeded. So when I need inspiration, a good quote will turn me on!nnThese are two of my favorite quotations. And I think that I can explain how, to some degree, both of them relate to OM (Orgasmic Meditation), and so doing, also tell you a little bit about my journey with OM.nnThe first quote by Nietzche, reminds me of the importance of listening to my intuition, which I receive through the sensations in my body.nIf I meet someone, and the hair on my forearms stands on end (in the bad way!) and I get a sick feeling in my stomach – I don’t care how smiley or nice they are – I know not to trust that person!nnAs I have developed my OM practice, I have become much more sensitive to what my body is telling me.nI love my intellect, and I appreciate logic and reason, however, my body (honed by Orgasmic Meditation) is honestly my best guide and compass in the world.nn“Transformation is sustained change, and it is achieved through practice.” - B.K.S. IyengarnnThis quote by Iyengar is another great reminder for me of the importance of staying out of my head.nnI used to read a lot of personal development and spirituality books while I was living a life that I didn’t love. Although the concepts and theories in these books spoke to me, I wasn’t applying them, so they weren’t creating any change in my life.nnOM was the first ‘practice’ that I actually applied and incorporated into my life. Not really because I wanted to have a ‘practice’ - I thought that meant sitting meditation and I found that boring! – I just really liked how relaxed and happy OM made me feel, and so I did it regularly.nnNow I understand that this is part of the magic of OM; that it is a practice!nnRegularly, I find myself unlocking emotional blocks, finding that I have more energy, and having realizations about the relationship between how I am in ‘my practice’ (OM) and how I am in my life.nnThese are the fruits of practice! I get to have them because I am participating in a sustained activity over a period of time, that reveals things to me and helps me discover myself.nn nnOM is a pathway to sensitizing our bodies; which in turn increases our attention, our touch, our hearing, our ability to give and receive, see and be seen. Through this sustainable and applicable practice, is a direct route to your own deepest wisdom.
